The sun beats down In angered strife It yearns to take your life The sun beats down With slashing rays Sand burns flesh You might be here to stay Under the open sky Your lips so cracked and dry And here, where so many have died Your strength keeps you alive Through this trial you'll abide So you walk on

Pain and pleasure Pleasure and pain Pain and pleasure One and the same One and the same Stolen days are better than Being locked up in oblivion Refrain from pain, it's the nicest It's got me drowning in my vices Pain and pleasure, the lack of one It's what we call depression

I wanted warmth It imprisoned me And their faces, oh They won't, they won't set me free Well, it's time to go To a land of the unknown Desolation presides In the space behind my eyes But it's ok, I'm free I'm free anyways I wanted warmth It imprisoned me And their faces, oh They won't, they won't set me free In my newfound home I see I'm not not alone Salmiakki and coffee Get me to the night Makes me feel almost Almost like I'm alright

about

"Samyang and Salmiak" showcases the duality of my own life, if not the duality of all lives, through the frame of a couple of my favorite foods. For such a short album it spans many genres, exploring aspects of rock, metal, funk, and folk music. Themes of relaxation and excitement showcase the dichotomy of the different activities we choose to participate in in our everyday lives. The difference of enjoyment between watching the steam spiral off of your coffee and into the void on a quiet grey morning and feeling your heart pumping out of your chest as you pedal your bike to the top of a massive steep hill. The absurd necessity of these extremes and the difficulty of balancing them and incorporating them into life is at the center of this album.
